The neutralzsation number (NZ) or also called acid number indicates the amount of KOH (lye) needed to neutralize the acid content in one gram of oil. The determination is conducted either photochemically by means of dye or, in the case of very dark products, by titration with titration liquid (DIN ISO 6618).
